The Toolbar:

TestsToolbar

Import XML Data allows Pure Tone and Speech audiograms exported as XML from NOAH 4 to be imported into HearAid

Load opens the Load Template window and allows you to select a template to paste directly into notes

Save allows you to save the current note as a new template

Add Address will add a new name and address to the Address Book

Text format buttons allow you to apply font and text attributes to selected text

Spell Check and Thesaurus

The Word Processing functions on the toolbar are explained in the Editor topic

If your practice does not perform ABR or ECoG testing, you can customise the toolbar by

1.Right-clicking on the toolbar

2.Click Customise in the pop-up menu

3.Drag the ABR and ECoG buttons off the menu bar

4.Close the Customise window

The Work Area:

ClientTest

The Report page is where the text of a clinical report is entered and names are added to the Distribution List from the Address Book. The Referred By name will be added to the Distribution List by default.

If the Send via e-Mail box is ticked for a recipient on the Distribution List, the report to that recipient is sent as an attachment to an email message; the attachment can be in DOC (Word), RTF (Rich Text), PDF (which can be encrypted) file. The recipient can read the PDF file using Adobe Acrobat Reader available from http://www.adobe.com provided the recipient knows the password for an encrypted file! The default password for PDF files is

hearsoft

 

but recipients can specify their own preferred password, which is stored in the Address Book. Emails with their attachments can be directed through secure email systems such as Argus or Medical Objects

To create a new report:

1.Press the Insert key on the keyboard, or click Insert New Record on the work area toolbar

2.Enter the Report Date

3.Enter the Test Date

4.Enter Referred By. If the client is self-referred and does not want a printed report, you can leave this entry blank

5.Enter Reported By

6.If you need a co-signature on the report e.g. if an ENT or doctor needs to sign the report for HSO purposes, enter Co-signed By

7.Enter the text of the report

8.Press Ctrl+S on the keyboard, or click Save Changes on the work area toolbar

9.Add extra names to the Distribution List as required

10.Add test results

oClick Audiogram to enter Pure Tone Audiometry results

oClick Speech to enter Speech Audiometry results

oClick Impedance to enter Tympanometry and Acoustic Reflex results

oClick ABR to enter Auditory Brainstem Response results

oClick ECoG to enter Electrocochleography results

11.When all data has been entered, click Preview

To Edit an existing report:

1.Click on the report form

2.Press Ctrl+Insert on the keyboard, or click Edit on the work area toolbar

3.Modify the report and press Ctrl+S on the keyboard, or click Save Changes on the work area toolbar

ReportMenu

Existing reports can be duplicated by clickin Duplicate Report from the Report drop-down menu. This functionality is useful if a number of slightly varying reports need to be sent to different recipients

ReportPreviewMenu

The drop-down menu attached to the Preview button is populated automatically at program start-up by searching in the ..\Reports\Forms folder for templates containing "clinical report" in the file name. Reports can be printed using selected template; users can therefore add their own templates to this menu simply by including "clinical report" in the template name. The default template can be set either Short Clinical Report or Full Clinical Report in Tools|Options|General|Default to Full Clinical Report.

A hard copy addressed as File Copy can be printed by selecting Print "File" Copy from the Preview menu

A hard copy addressed as Client Copy can be printed by selecting Print "Client" Copy from the Preview menu

Once you have completed the report and entering test results the report can be printed by clicking the Preview button. The two Print modes are:

FullReport

 

Full Report mode, where all test results, including ABR and ECoG results, are printed on the first page and the text of the report is printed on the second and subsequent pages

ShortReport

Short Report mode, where Pure Tone, Speech and Impedance test results are printed at the top of the first page and the text is printed immediately underneath and on to subsequent pages if necessary
