HearAid uses Rich Text Format (RTF) documents as templates in mail-merges and in the Calendar appointment editor. Users can edit RTF documents in word processors such as Microsoft Word and WordPad, or use HearAid's own word processor

The Toolbar:

The toolbar includes three sub-menus

EditMenu

The Edit menu provides the usual word processing editing items

FormatMenu

The Format menu functions are

Page Setup is used to set page size, orientation and margins

Printer Settings

Bullets & Numbers formatting

Zoom In, Zoom Out, Fit to Page Height and Fit to Page Width control how the editor is displayed in the work-area

Default Page Layout cancels any changes made to the page layout (margins, etc)

Default Font will reset the font back to the Default Rich Text Font set in Tools|Options|General

Layout Mode sets how the page appears on-screen

Auto Zoom will automatically zoom the page view so that the entire page fits within the panel; this may result in very small screen display font size!

Word Wrap controls whether the text wraps so that it is all visible, otherwise you may need to use the horizontal scroll bar to view obscured text

 

Experiment with the Layout Mode, Auto Zoom and Word Wrap settings to provide optimal viewing of the text

TableMenu

The Table menus allows the creation of tables in the document and the display of table and cell borders

Click Load to load a RTF file into the editor. HearAid stores RTF documents in ..\HearSoft\HearAid\Reports\Forms and ..\HearSoft\HearAid\Reports\Mail-Merge

Click Save to save the document to a RTF file

Click New to clear the editor for a new document

Use the Text Attribute buttons to change font, etc in the text

You can use the Spell Checker and Thesaurus if needed

When editing HearAid standard documents it is strongly recommended that you avoid modifying any merge fields, indicated by tag pairs (such as <dbtext displayformat='d mmmm, yyyy'>MAINTENANCE_EXPIRES</dbtext>, for example)
