Items are used in Claims. The Item Schedule is set by the Hearing Services Program and is typically updated annually. HearSoft Pty Ltd provides a script which SYSDBA can use in Query to batch-update items, or alternatively users can modify items. When adding or modifying an item be sure to check

•The Item Amount and Tax; effective tax rates are calculated automatically and are useful when managing Custom Tax Codes in Reckon

•Tick the Test Item box if it is an item used to claim for assessments

•Tick the Fitting Item box if it is an item used to claim for a fitting

•Tick the Replacement Item if it is a device replacement item

•Tick the Maintenance Item box if the item has a maintenance payment attached to it

•Tick the Binaural Item box if the item is only used for clients with binaural fittings

•Tick the Rehab Item box if the item is a defined rehabilitation item (not a device fitting item)

•Tick the Need Current Voucher if the client must have a current HSP voucher in order for the item to be claimed

•The Active box should normally be ticked; it is there to allow for future changes to the HSP Item schedule

These settings are used when checking claims for errors, so it is important they are correct. If in doubt, contact HearSoft Pty Ltd for assistance

Updating the Annual Item Fee Schedule

The Hearing Services Program usually publishes its annual Schedule of Service Items in May of each year. Users can update the fee schedule by

1.Select the Item you want to add/update

2.Click on the Duplicate button on the toolbar
 

 

3.A new item will be added with the next Schedule Date calculated automatically as 1 July of the following year e.g. if you have selected an Item from the 01/07/2023 Schedule Date group, the new item will be given 01/07/2024, and the Item Amount row will be selected for editing
 

 
All of the existing parameters such as Fitting Item, or Test Item, etc will be carried over into the new item. Enter the new Item Amount, Item Taxable Amount, Item Tax and Item Total and click the Save button

You should also update the Device Categories and HSP Fees schedules as well!
