Device Categories are used in Claims and Devices

Device Categories were previously called Tiers

The Device Category amount changes annually and a separate record is added for each year as part of the annual HSP contract maintenance. HearAid will select the appropriate amount for a claim depending on the Fitting Date

Updating the Annual Device Category Schedule

The Hearing Services Program usually publishes its annual Schedule of Service Items in May of each year. Users can update the Device Category schedule by

1.Select the Item you want to add/update

2.Click on the Duplicate button on the toolbar

3.A new Device Category will be added with the next Schedule Date calculated automatically as 1 July of the following year e.g. if you have selected an Item from the 01/07/2023 Schedule Date group, the new Device Category will be given 01/07/2024, and the Amount row will be selected for editing

Enter the new Amount and Tax and click the Save button

You should also update the Service Items and HSP Fees schedules as well!

Remember: The C3 category covers both custom devices and non-standard devices... The standard amount for a custom device should be entered here; the amount HSP pays for non-standard devices should be entered in the Devices window
