Restore

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

Restore will recreate a database from a compressed backup file.

Only the SYSDBA can perform a Restore and the Restore MUST be performed directly on the computer hosting the database!

It is good practice to periodically backup and then immediately restore from the backup file; doing so compacts the database and re-balances table indices.

Before performing a Restore you must log off ALL HearAid users on ALL computers

If you are performing a Restore operation to retrieve deleted Client or Calendar data then you should consider using the Recover function as your first option.

If you are performing a Restore to retrieve other data then it is STRONGLY recommended that you log in to HearAid or HAConfig attaching to a different database to your "live" database. An empty database called HEARAID7ISO8859_1_EMPTY.FDB is installed for this purpose. The HAConfig utility installed in the ..\HearSoft\HearAid folder can also be used to restore from a backup without starting HearAid. When logging in to HearAid to perform the restore select this file

LoginToFDBRestore

If you prefer to use HAConfig for the restore, manually type in HEARAID7ISO8859_1_EMPTY.FDB at the Login dialog

and once the backup has been restored into this file you can access the old data

1.In HearAid, click Tools|Restore in HAConfig click Database|Restore on the main menu

2.Select the backup file to restore from; HearAid.fbk

3.Confirm that you wish to Restore the database
